The award-winning Mixologist of the Alba Huert believes that cocktails are more than drinks-they are stories in a glass.
Huerta, who was born in Mexico and grew up in Texas, is an exchange and owner of Julep in Houston. He spends more than ten years to shape the Earth’s cocktail, gaining countless awards and creating more than 110 cocktails. As a result, she gained international recognition for her Burmese skills.
Since the first drink she created in 1998, Huert understood that bartending was more than mixing ingredients. She immediately loved the unique experiences she could give her customers.

For Huert, the process of creating a cocktail is a deeply personal and collaborative experience. “At the time we get to the iteration of the cocktail, which we think is exemplary, this drink has been carried out 20-30 times,” he says.
The cocktail develops by entering from all its team. Creative influences can come from seasonal ingredients or even pop cultures, but every drink is of its kind. For Huert, this cooperation is the true nature of hospitality. These are relationships. You share part of your story and interests with guests to see that they will do it. Sometimes it changes things to become their own.
This makes it fun and meaningful. You can create a unique bond with a customer for something as simple but complex as a carefully created drink.

A bar of ownership of a bar
Julep has just celebrated his 10th year in the hands of Huerty. The challenges of building and maintaining business, especially after the pandemic, have taught her many lessons.
Here are four key lessons that Huerta shares from her decade as the owner of the bar:
- Details of matter. For Huert, the smallest details are what creates unforgettable experiences. “Space, lighting, paper on which offers are printed, the way you name your drinks so that your guests can easily pass the menu,” he explains. Each element and touch point contribute to the guest’s experience.
- The community is always. Huerta is enthusiastic about the community, not only in business but in life. He attributes most of his success to support his local community and urges other entrepreneurs to create a meaningful connection. For anyone who wants to change their careers, build something new or do anything else, the community support will help them think more and more creatively.
- Ask for help when you need it. No one wins alone. Stop thinking that you have to do it yourself. Asking for help you will equip you with bigger things. Huerty Council is about cooperation as well as requests for help from those who are in front of you. Take mentoring as often as you can.
- Share what you have learned. Huerta is deeply determined to help ters in the hospitality industry. They believe you should always take what you have learned and give it to people who come to you. Tools that are now much easier to create a brand or company than it was ten years ago. Use each tool and share every lesson.
Whether creating a signature cocktail or offering the words of the company owner, the impact of huerta is undeniable.
It has become an important influence on cocktail culture around the world, but her heart to the hospital is about people. The relationships they build and the memories they create for all that are all worth it.
“I never imagined opening this bar,” she admitted, remarking how the world has changed in recent years. Despite these obstacles to her commitment to the craftsmanship and community, Julep kept prosperous.
